She clings to the one man that has been her protector, her confidant, her consolation, the light in her life. And it is Norman. And she’s totally too involved. And she’s unable to cut the cord.
In case anyone thinks Norma’s only clinging to Norman because he’s sick, here’s Vera telling you that that isn’t the case. It’s the justification, but it isn’t the reason. She clings to him because he’s better than every other man she’s ever known in her life. And that’s why she refuses to let him go.
